Color and black & grey with Brendon Frietas at Diamond Mind Tattoo.
Our realism artist
Want a realism tattoo in Buzzards Bay or anywhere on the Cape? Brendon Frietas does realism at Diamond Mind Tattoo, 53 Main St in Buzzards Bay, right by the Cape Cod Canal.
Brendon’s been tattooing for about 4 years. He got into realism because he’s always liked drawing things as close to the original as he can, and he loves comparing the two when he’s done.
He does it both ways, color and black and grey. Black and grey is probably his favorite, but he loves the way color pops. Subjects are pretty much anything: objects, people, places, and portraits of people and pets.
People come in from Sandwich, Falmouth, Mashpee, Bourne, Wareham, Plymouth and all over the Cape and South Shore.

Plan it right
Both work. Black and grey is probably Brendon’s favorite, but color really pops. When you’re stuck between the two, he looks at the subject, how complex it is, and which one he can make look best. Bring a reference photo that’s big and clear so the details carry over to the skin. Not sure? Book an hour with him and talk it through.

Good to know
You have to be 18 with a valid photo ID. That’s the Bourne rule, no parental consent exception. The shop minimum is $100. Deposits are generally about half the price and go toward your tattoo. First tattoo? Check our first tattoo guide.
Realism takes a little more time than other styles. It looks great when it’s done, but it can’t be rushed. Placement matters too: big open areas are best, and fatty areas can make it a little more challenging.
